Comprehensive Building & Remodeling,llc has been serving the needs of home owners and small businesses in Eastern and Central Massachusetts, including Cape Cod since 1979. The company began in and around Boston proper and the immediate surrounding towns, working with homeowners to design,build or remodel kitchens,baths and additions.The very first project was a very modern large kitchen and addition in an elegant Italianate style residence on Brattle Street in Cambridge, for which we were the designers, cabinet makers and general contractors. We are proud to state,that the work we did is still beautiful and valued by our client thirty-five years after completion. This had the effect of setting the bar fairly high from the start for the company’s mission, and although projects have varied greatly over thirty-five years, our enthusiasm for working with home owners and small businesses to assist them with realizing their construction objectives has been a constant,regardless of the scale or complexity.
That first year also saw us designing, building and remodeling a three story,125 seat restaurant complete with elevator, septic, parking and landscaping. This was a huge challenge, but invaluable for what we learned by taking on such a large project so early on.
During the ensuing years, our projects have taken us from the tip of the Cape ( Wellfleet,Truro, Provincetown) to Boston proper ( Beacon Hill,South End,Back Bay) to the suburbs and exurbs surrounding Boston (south,west & east) and extending into Central & Northern Massachusetts & Southern NH. Projects have ranged from a small, free standing cottage & woodworking studio, on the shores of the Sudbury River, built for the former President of Polaroid, to the total gut remodel of a well known Boston area Architect’s very first home, 50 years after he designed and had it built for his parents.
The tremendous variation of architectural style, scope, complexity and budgetary constraints of the many hundreds of our projects completed over these years has informed and developed us as designers and builders, and honed our craft as carpenters immeasurably.
